Quality Assurance Officer
About the Role
The QA Officer takes a lead in the development and implementation of quality assurance policies, conducting tests and inspections, identifying production, process, or product issues and presenting solutions. The Ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, methodical professional with experience necessary to take our products to the next level with respect to accuracy, food safety, security and able to help our company maintain the highest Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards.
This is a position of responsibility that requires the ability to work autonomously and the confidence to provide sound directions and guidance to colleagues in respect of quality assurance requirements and procedures.
Note: The QAO is occasionally exposed to heat, high precarious places, dust, airborne particles, loud noises and vibration. The role requires the successful candidate to stand and walk for significant duration of the production shift.
Monitor and program critical control points (CCP).
Monitor food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
Perform sanitation verification and testing on equipment and other areas required.
Record and file all relevant record logs and documentation correctly.
Ensure the correct recipe guideline for products are met during processing.
Ensure product compliance to set standards.
Ensure team members are following all Food Safety and worker safety practices.
Train/educate team members on food safety and SQF standards.
Collect product samples for Product Development, storage and lab testing.
Perform inspections on Products, Equipment and Machinery.
Conduct research to improve the taste, preservation techniques and packaging solutions.
Design and implement defect tracking mechanisms throughout the production process to prevent substandard products reaching the market.
Bachelor’s degree/ Higher National Diploma related to Engineering or Business Management.
Superb computer competence, including database management.
Written and verbal communication.
Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods and tools.
Prior experience in agro-processing or FMCG is a plus.
Meticulous approach to work.
